Collaborative Write Up

My Personal Context I feel like this project that we put up is not really that great, but we made something so I guess we just have to go with it. So we were deciding what plot that we should go with to match the stimuli that has been given to us (the painting), and I thought of this idea of a broken heart. I somehow created the first scene of our play just by do an improvisation with Linda about a couple arguing. I can’t remember exactly what I said or what that plot was, but we figured that the story could be around this couple, so I just basically created baseline of the story. My Approach As for a story that I’m basically a bully and an abusive husband, I feel like I can fit right into that character. I feel like acting out a drunk, controlling character is not really that hard since this stereotype has been in our society a long time and there are a lot of information of such character because I can find bunch of them in movies or in books. I planned to act the cha...

Winter Musical Review

I feel like this year’s musical is not that great of a success comparing to last year, but I think this year’s musical actually makes people hype. I think we have a very dependable stage crew this year, and we cannot put on this show without their design and stage management. Especially we move the stage to a totally new direction this year. The lighting and the stage paid more effort than ever to prepare for this brand new show. I think the turning of the stage is a great success. SInce now we have multiple ways of letting the actors entering the stage. The performance would look much more alive and the audience would feel the flexibility of this performance as well. One more thing that is interesting about this year’s musical is our energy on stage. I remembered during long rehearsals on Saturdays and Wednesdays, no one really wants to be there and everything looks wack during those times. However, all cast members put on all of our energy on all three shows. Yes there were still co...

Reflective Post

First of all, I wanna talk about the piece from an the audience point of view as a whole. I think the the piece really has a flow of emotion inside that can let the audience to stay in the story. Because when I watch the video of the play, there are times that the change of the scene makes the play awkward. For example, sometimes the change of mood is too sudden, the audience might lose track of what is going on plot wise. So I guess of flow of emotion really helped our piece, and this is not a bad thing. Because the play is associated with emotions, love and betrayal, so by letting the audience feel the emotional impact might actually work well. By watching the video, I am able to find out my acting weaknesses. For example, in everyday life, I stand with my neck sticking out, and I just realize that would be a problem since that does not look nice. I kind of hate my way of standing and I tried to fix it but I think it would not fix itself in a short period of time. The reason why ...

Script Analysis Write Up

During last week while my group was writing the script, we were just writing down everything that we had in mind using our perspective on what would people say during an argument or a fight. Most of the time that all the script we came up with only makes sense when we read it right after we write them down, but after a day, when we go back and read it it does not make that much sense as we thought it might be. And this is one of the techniques to make sure that every line we wrote down can make sense in the play, just by saving the scripts and come back to read it again maybe after a day or two, to revise what we had wrote down. Another way that is kind of interesting for us to fix the script, is by actually acting it out. Because sometimes the script only make sense when it is being written down on the paper with no actual emotions in them. But when we trying to act with the instructions, some lines just don’t fit with the actor’s emotion state on stage, just like when one is perfor...

Broken Walls

The art piece itself is dark based wooden plank that covered with mainly dark green or brown. There are also a little touch of bright colors such as blue, orange and green. Other than the wood, there is a piece of wood that sticks on the top of that. There is also a human-like figure that is made out of tin can pieces. Other than the wood that is sticking out the wooden canvas, a ballon with a shape of a heart that is outside of the wooden canvas is giving this piece more layers and making it structural abstract.
