Devising Workshop

I can definitely see that these two people are professionals after the whole thing is done. I don't like the feeling when something or someone new is introduced to me, no matter what the circumstance might be, I just don't feel that I might enjoy or even would be willing to participate with the devising workshop. But what they do is they tried your best to let you open up yourself, not only body but also brings out your ability of acting. It is fascinating to see how everyone including me is actually enjoying themselves during any step of the workshop. What I love about Ben and Steve, is they encourage you to the best they could. Sometimes even if you do not have the correct answer or gives out answer that is irrelevant to the question. They would not judge you, they would acknowledge the information no matter how ridiculous that might sound, but I think that is really important during a theatre production. The relationship and the bonding with rest of the actors is a cruci...

Takeaways: 1. Always remember directors should have passion in their heart, or else everything he/she creates would be bloodless. 2. Director should always keep the balance of being creative and being humble with the play. 3. There are five ways of research. Getting to know the writer, period research, directorial research, finding a play's production history, and an actual research in real life. 4. Master of narrative can sense the emotion of the play, the person should be controlling ...

Director's Vision

The musical that I picked is “ The Hunchback of Notre Dame ”. It was first introduced to me by my mother, she was listening to this for four weeks straight and she would play it in anywhere she wants, such as when she was driving or when she was cooking. That is also the very first time I actually listened to a musical production. It is quite fascinating to see the production, although it was in bad quality, but the songs and how actors act on stage is ironed in my mind. When I was watching the play with my mother, I cannot understand a thing from the play since it was french and there were no subs at all. I read the storyline like a year later after I watch the play and I rewatch it. There is this conflict of who is the main character of the play, who is the main character and who is actually the main character. I guess this is the question that the director’s vision is trying to let us figure out. I think the heart of the show, should be this love relationship between Quasi...

Stage Model Assessment

I pick the scene Court of The Miracle from the play Notre Dame De Paris. The scene is basically bunches of homeless people dancing and having a chaotic celebration. The main theme should be dark since the place is like a secret hideout. There should not be any bright colors involved except for the main character’s clothing, any other actors on the stage should only be dressing in grey. The color grey is an important color, when people sees grey, people would think about dust or dusty and dirty clothes, hence the audience can make the connection of “if they are wearing grey, then they are poor people.” Important characters should have clothing that has different color with each other since they are all people that came from different social status and the only person should be wearing a bright color is Esmeralda. The lighting of the scene is also easy. During the whole scene, the light should be dim because the place itself is like a cave where no sunlight can be seen or reach to th...
