First Collab

Here are few notes that I wanted to keep track of and share with other people. First of all, I feel like the class has improved a lot on having useful conversations. During the time when me and my partners were brainstorming words about our stimuli, and trying to figure out a scene. I feel really productive and the conversation that we had are all quality theatre stuffs. Although there are parts that we got carried away either by songs or by some random irrelevant ideas that popped into our minds, we can still keep our discussion in shape. That, I say is a huge improvement.

And as for the director’s vision, I did not direct the scene, it was Willjam who did it, but I do have my understanding about the scene. Although it looked quite cheesy with a “man-made” (pun intended) mushroom on stage, but that is necessary from my point of view because, it is hard to perform the innocence of nature with no props and no beautiful acting skills. That only thing that is close to nature, is some sort of object that people usually would realize that it could be found in a forest, which is a mushroom. Also, the skipping that Linda did was also great. It added the playfulness into the scene, and also gives audience a feeling of “Little Riding Hood”, which made the audience to relate to forest and assume the setting is in a forest. I feel like we can improve something about the relationship between Willjam and Linda. It’s a shame that I could not see what actually happened on stage because I had to be the mushroom, but from the feedbacks of the other group, I have this sense of unclear. Maybe the scene should start with Willjam is facing the audience with his eyes close and Linda is skipping towards the mushroom and hides behind it. Then Willjam can open up his eye and turn around to search for Linda. That might be a good suggestion or an actual change for the scene to make what is happening and the theme more clear.
